  • First of all, you have to get your hands on oversized particleboard panels. Here, get the two pieces and glue them together. Now that you have got a large piece, all you have to do is cut them to the perfect size. For cutting, you have to cut these so that they can work with the table saw.
  • Now that you are ready with the table saw, you have to go for edge-band. Go through the two sides of the table and settle for edge band. Now, go for belt-sand the top part. In this way, you can keep the hardwood flush with the surface.
  • In this step, you have to get your hands on the laminate squares and cut them out. Go for 1 inch oversize. Now, you can add some contact cement.
  • When you are done doing it, you have to settle for routing the laminated squared flush. Search for a flush-trim bit. With it, all you have to do is chamfer them. Make sure that you stick to the 45-degree bit here.
  • All you have to do is route out the ½ inches deep recess so that you can work with the throat plate with ease.
  • Now, go for the dadoes and cut them out with the help of the table saw. Keep the width ¾ inches. Once you are done, you have to cut the clearance hole on the fence. Use a hole saw of 2-1/2 inches on the drill press for this.
  • Take screws and screw the fence together. Make sure that you complete this before you apply the laminate. After this, you have to repeat the process of routing just like you worked with the tabletop!
  • When it comes to securing the new top to the current drill press table, you can always settle for lag screws and washers. This helps it stay stable in one place. And that’s all! You have made a drill press table at home!
